World’s first transgender clinic has recently launched in Asia under the partnership of the ‘Thai Red Cross AIDS Research Centre’ and US development aimed to provide health services and research on the transgender health.

The Tangerine Community Health Centre was launched on 27 November, four days before World AIDS Day in Bangkok while, US ambassador Glyn T Davies was present on the day of the opening ceremony.

"This is an immense step for Thailand and the region regarding the mobilization and advocacy for transgender health," said Nicha Rongram, spokeswoman for the Thai Transgender Alliance for Human Rights.

Hence, this is an initial step which will raise the status of transgender identity with reference to social, economic, cultural and legal frameworks in society and even create awareness to stop sexually transmitted diseases like HIV around the globe.
